Welcome to DR. Movement

Your answer to obtaining a functional vital sign and proving ‘medical necessity’. The DMP is designed for health professionals to produce a “movement score” based on normative data in the research. With this movement score you will be able to compare your client to others their age.  The DMP will identify client’s movement, balance, flexibility and strength limitations to develop a specific functional activity plan often including physical therapy intervention.

The Dr. Movement Philosophy

Dr. Movement is a “movement” aimed at improving lifestyle through physical therapy and increased physical activity.

Dr. Movement was born over the course of 12 years of clinical practice as a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  As Chris Leck, (DPT and founder of Dr. Movement) progressed in his clinical expertise, he realized that treating musculoskeletal disorders as a physical therapist was only the tip of the iceberg.  When a client presented with low back pain or knee pain, fixing this ailment may have been what the client desired but it wasn’t enough.  Making lifestyle changes would provide the long lasting change that would enable the client to move and feel better and improve their quality of life, for life.

Our Purpose

As the concept of lifestyle PT came into focus, Chris Leck, (DPT and founder of Dr. Movement) realized that exercise had become somewhat of a “dirty word”.

No longer was the age-old adage of “diet and exercise” enough education for our patients or communities.  In order to combat the deadly effects of chronic disease, it was important to emphasize fun, pain-free MOVEMENT.  Finding a person’s purpose and discovering activities that motivated that person became more of a focus than the “quick fix”.  Combining activity modification with proper nutrition and other wellness pillars is the real answer to lifelong health.

Movement/Activity is as or more important than any of our daily vitamins.  When we have a headache we search for a pill to reduce or alleviate our pain.  Movement is the pill not just the vitamin we need because we know the results are so positive. Regular movement can reduce chronic disease and extend our lifespan.

The tools provided through the Dr. Movement platform will enable practitioners to establish a movement baseline and create an environment for lifestyle change.  Through these lifestyle changes, the client will have the power to choose independence and long-term health.  Improved population health will have a significant impact on our communities and reduce chronic disease.
